What programs do you offer?
We offer skating, figure skating, hockey, and strength and conditioning programs for athletes of all levels.
Do I have to be a competitive athlete to train at Canadian Ice Academy?
Not at all. We offer programs for beginners to elite athletes. Visit our Programs page to explore different sport pathways.
What age can my child start skating?
Children can start in our Pre-CanSkate or Chipmunk Hockey programs from age 3+.
Terms and Conditions for All Programs
By registering, you agree to release Canadian Ice Academy and its staff from responsibility for injury or loss. You also permit emergency medical treatment, agree to receive email communications, and consent to the use of photography/video recordings for promotional purposes. Canadian Ice Academy has a strict no refund policy.
Skating
What age can my child start skating?
Children can begin at age 3 through our Pre-CanSkate program.
Are you endorsed by Skate Canada?
Yes. Our CanSkate programs follow Skate Canada’s curriculum and are led by trained, certified coaches.
What skating programs do you offer?
We offer Pre-CanSkate (ages 3–4), CanSkate (ages 5+), and figure skating programs including Bridge, Star, and advanced options.
What qualifications do your coaches have?
All CanSkate lessons are taught by certified coaches through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).
What equipment is required for skating lessons?
All skaters must wear a CSA-approved helmet (mandatory for Pre-CanSkate and CanSkate), lace-up skates with firm ankle support, and warm layered clothing such as snow or nylon pants for protection and comfort.

Figure Skating
What figure skating programs do you offer?
We offer Bridge, Star, and High Performer programs for athletes seeking competitive pathways. We also offer Canadian Theatre on Ice.
How does my child get into figure skating?
Children begin in CanSkate, and once they reach stage 5 or 6, our coaching team evaluates readiness for Bridge or other programs. Transfers from other schools are welcome—please contact us to discuss placement.
What age can my child begin figure skating?
Children can start as early as age 3 through Pre-CanSkate and progress through our structured pathway.
What equipment does my child need for figure skating?
For Pre-CanSkate and CanSkate: CSA-approved helmet, lace-up skates, and warm clothing.
For Bridge and Star: Figure skates and appropriate skating attire are required.
Does my child need a private coach?
Private coaching is encouraged for Bridge participants and required for those in Star and competitive programs.

Hockey
What hockey programs do you offer?
We offer Chipmunk Hockey, After School Skills Development, 3-on-3 Hockey League, Junior Habs Spring Training, and the High Performer Hockey Program.
What age can my child start hockey?
Children can join the Chipmunk Hockey program starting at age 3+.
What equipment is needed for hockey?
Full hockey equipment is required, including helmet with cage, skates, stick, gloves, pads (shoulder, elbow, shin), neck guard, jock/Jill, hockey pants, jersey, and gear bag.
Are there programs for kids already in a league?
Yes. Our After School Skills, 3-on-3 League, and High Performer programs are ideal for players already involved in team hockey.
Do you offer elite-level hockey programs?
Yes. The Junior Habs Spring Training and High Performer Hockey Program are designed for competitive players.

High Performer Program
What is the High Performer Program?
It’s a blended academic-athletic program where students train in the morning and attend school in the afternoon. Designed for competitive athletes, it allows for a flexible and balanced schedule. Learn more here.
What schools are affiliated with the program?
We are affiliated with Hollycrest Middle School (Grades 4–8) and Silverthorn Collegiate Institute (Grades 9–12). Students can attend regardless of catchment area, and transportation is provided.
Do we need to live in a certain area to attend the affiliated schools?
No. Out-of-catchment students are welcome, and we provide transportation from the Canadian Ice Academy to these schools.
Who qualifies as a High Performer?
Visit the High Performer Hockey or High Performer Figure Skating pages to review eligibility details for each stream.
What is offered through the High Performer Program?
The program includes Ontario Curriculum–based academics, customized timetables, and high-performance sport training, all in a supportive learning environment.
What age can my child start the High Performer Program?
The program is available to students in Grade 4 and up.

Strength and Conditioning
Why is strength and conditioning training important?
It enhances athletic performance, reduces injury risk, and supports long-term development in both hockey and figure skating.

There are no refunds or cancellations once a program has started.

Do I need a membership to register?
Yes. All Skate Canada programs (Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate, Bridge, Star, and Figure Skating) require an annual Skate Canada fee. Hockey programs are excluded.
What is the cost of membership?
The annual Skate Canada fee is $60.00 + HST.
