Yes, we are. Canadian Ice Academy offers CanSkate lessons which are developed by Skate Canada. All of our CanSkate programs follow Skate Canada’s guidelines and curriculum and are taught by trained, professional coaches.
We offer Pre-CanSkate for beginner skaters aged 3-4, CanSkate lessons for skaters aged 5+, and figure skating lessons for more advanced skaters.
All of our CanSkate lessons are led by professional coaches who are specially trained and certified through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).
- Helmet: CSA approved helmets are mandatory for all Pre-CanSkate and CanSkaters.
- Skates: We recommend “lace-up” skates, as they provide the best support, allow proper movement, and accommodate adjustable fit. The skate’s boot must be firm, and must provide good support to the foot and ankle.
- Warm clothing: Skaters should dress warmly and comfortably in layers to enjoy their skating experience. Snow pants or nylon pants over top of layers of clothing are a good idea as they provide warmth and dryness during the session.
Visit our Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate and Figure Skating pages to find out detailed information on costs, lesson schedules, and to register.

Figure Skating
We offer Bridge, Star, and Figure Skating lessons as well as a High Performer Program for competitive figure skaters.
At the Canadian Ice Academy, children interested in figure skating must be working on CanSkate stage 5 or 6. After completing these lessons, the coaching staff, under the direction of the Director, determine if the athlete should move on to the Bridge program which starts developing figure skating ability.
If your child is coming from another school, please contact Canadian Ice Academy to discuss entry into the Bridge program or other relevant figure skating option.
Children can start their journey to figure skating at the age of 3+! Check out our Pre-CanSkate and CanSkate programs to find out which one is right for your child.

High Performer Programs
The High Performer Program is designed and geared towards competitive athletes, providing a balanced schedule between education and the time commitment that it takes to succeed in competitive sport.
This program allows the student to train at the Canadian Ice Academy in the morning and attend school in the afternoon. It is an ideal program for athletes who are looking to balance academics while getting in enough sport training to advance in their athletic career.
At this time, the school-year program is offered for hockey and figure skaters only. Our summer program has been designed for all competitive athletes.
